RECORDINGS OF MY MUSIC
A selection of recordings of my music: mostly mp3's, but with one or two Realaudio files, too. The sound quality varies, depending on when and where they were recorded. (Don't forget you can also view and play my scores in Sibelius format - on my Sibelius page or at my sibeliusmusic.com page
THE ARCADIAN SINGERS of Oxford University
'Night' - one of my Two Blake Songs, conducted by Matthew O'Donovan
GABRIEL GOTTLIEB
An excellent young counter-tenor for whom I wrote my Two Hopkins Songs (settings of words by the amazing Victorian poet, Gerard Manley Hopkins), in 1998. Here he is, singing them, with John Reid on piano:
THE BBC SINGERS
Probably the finest chamber choir in the world. They performed my Three Pieces for Choir on BBC Radio 3 in 1998; here is the third movement. The music is modelled on traditional psalm-singing from the Hebrides (islands off North-west Scotland), but the words are Buddhist, in ancient Pali - an evocation of the Buddha. (Recording copyright BBC - used by permission). Have a look at the Singers' own website: www.bbc.co.uk/singers/
Three Pieces for Choir (3) (704kb)
THE ARTSONG COLLECTIVE
This very excellent group of young performers is based in London, and specialises in less well-known British repertoire.
Here are three numbers from my Seven Poems of Wilfred Owen, performed by two of the Collective, Wills Morgan (tenor) and Richard Black (piano):
From my Diary (3.2mb)
Happiness (2.9mb)
The Send-off (4.2mb)
You can also listen to the theme from the BBC TV series, 'Disabled Century'. (Copyright BBC 1999):
Century (2.5mb)
N.B. - if anyone would like to have scores of the music on this page, specially if they want to perform them, please email me and I will be happy to arrange this.
